# Assign Channel Ownership

## How to Set Up and Assign Channel Ownership in YouTube MCN

## **Overview**

Assigning ownership to YouTube channels allows you to manage access, responsibilities, and reporting within Revelator. Ownership setup is essential for:

* Granting clients permission to view and manage their own channels.
* Associating specific channels with rights holders or internal team members.
* Organizing catalogs by stakeholder or entity for better reporting and revenue routing.

This guide walks you through identifying imported channels and assigning or updating their ownership.

***

## **Prerequisites**

* You must have already connected a YouTube MCN or joined Revelator’s MCN.
* The channels must be successfully imported into the YouTube section of the catalog.
* You must have **admin permissions** in the workspace.

***

## **How It Works: Step-by-Step Guide**

### Step 1: Navigate to the YouTube > Channels Tab

* From the left-hand sidebar, click **YouTube** under “UGC Platforms.”
* Select the **Channels** tab to see all imported YouTube channels.
* You’ll see a blue banner confirming imported channels.

***

### Step 2: Review and Select a Channel

* Browse or search for the desired channel using the search bar or filters.
* Click on the **three-dot menu (⋮)** on the top right of the channel tile.
* Choose **“Assign Channel Owner”**.

***

### Step 3: Assign a Channel Owner

* A list of available workspace users or payees will appear.
* Select the appropriate owner.
* Click **Confirm** to assign ownership.

🟢 Once assigned, the new owner can access the channel and its videos in their own catalog view, depending on their permissions.

***

### Step 4: View and Confirm Ownership

* Open the channel detail page.
* The assigned owner will appear under the channel name.
* Optionally, navigate to **Videos** tab to manage or inspect individual video content for that owner.

***

## **Expected Outcomes**

* Channel ownership will be reflected in both the main catalog and client views.
* Channel owners will have access to metadata, stats, and videos based on their role.
* Clients can only access channels assigned to them, ensuring privacy and relevance.

***

## **Frequently Asked Questions**

* **Can I reassign ownership later?**\
  Yes. Repeat the steps above and choose a new owner.
* **What happens if a channel has no owner?**\
  It remains visible in the main catalog but is not exposed to any client or team user until assigned.
* **Can I bulk assign ownership?**\
  Not currently. Ownership is assigned one channel at a time.
* **Does ownership affect royalties or statements?**\
  No — but assigning a Payee to a contract related to a channel does. This process is separate.
