# App Lock Methods

After creating a new wallet or importing your existing wallet, you are required to set a method for unlocking the app to access and transact with your wallet on-chain. You must either use your devices in-built biometric functions (ie Face ID) or a unique 6-digit PIN.

This lock method will be required each time you open the app from backgrounding, and also for confirming transactions on the blockchain, such as:

* Sending cryptocurrency funds
* Sending royalty tokens
* Connecting your wallet to 3rd-party dapps
* Anything else that requires access to your wallet tokens

If you forget your PIN or your biometric unlock stops working, you can regain access to your wallet using your recovery phrase. Please ensure you have this backed-up in a safe place. ## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.revelator.com/wallet/security/app-lock-methods.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
