Create a Track
Summary
This guide provides detailed instructions for creating, managing, and filtering tracks within the Revelator platform. It covers the steps to add audio files, manage track details, and customize the track view. Additionally, it explains how to use filters to navigate your catalog efficiently.
Prerequisites
Access to the Revelator platform.
Proper permissions to create and manage tracks.
Audio files in WAV format (16-24 bit depth, 44.1 kHz minimum sample rate).
Steps to Create a Track
Add Audio File (Step 1 of 3)
Drag and drop your audio file into the upload area or browse for the file.
Supported format: Stereo (WAV) with specifications: 16-24 bit depth, 44.1 kHz minimum sample rate, more than 2 seconds duration.
Click on the Master Track button to apply AI mastering by Masterchannel.
ISRC (International Standard Recording Code)
If you have an ISRC, select Yes and enter the code.
If not, select No to have Revelator generate one for you (free).
Tip: An ISRC is unique to each track and should not be duplicated for different songs.
Track Details and Metadata (Step 2 of 3)
Enter the Track Title (required).
Specify the Track Version (e.g., Live, Remix, Remastered) if applicable.
Use the + Localize Your Track button to add localized versions of the track.
Select the Primary Genre and Secondary Genre from the dropdown menus.
Add the Main Primary Artist using the + Add Main Primary Artist button.
If the artist does not exist, click Create and add a new artist.
Tip: Make sure the Artist Name and ID are correct before submission, as changes are not allowed later.
Enter the Label and Catalog ID if applicable.
Set the Preview/Clip Start Time (in mm:ss format). The default is 00:15 if left blank.
Track Origin:
Original Work: Your composition is original and does not reuse another artist's work.
Public Domain & Traditional: Any music whose copyright has expired or is otherwise free of copyright, including traditional songs and melodies.
Cover Song: A new performance of a song previously recorded by someone else, without substantial changes to the original composition.
Track Properties: Select all applicable options from the following:
Remix or Derivative: Altered version of an original recording, including slowed-down or boosted versions.
Samples or Stock: Recording containing samples or stock music.
Mix or Compilation: Mashup or medley containing multiple track segments or full tracks joined together.
Alternate Version: Radio edit, extended version, live or remastered versions.
Special Genre: White noise, ambient, meditation, karaoke, classical, or similar genre that may be mistaken for another recording.
Non-Musical Content: ASMR, sound effects, nature sounds, speech, spoken word, podcast, or radio show.
Includes AI: Any content partially or entirely generated by AI tools.
None of the Above Apply: Select if none of the specified properties apply to your track.
Language of Lyrics: Select the language of the lyrics or choose Instrumental if no lyrics are present.
Explicit Content Warning: Mark Explicit Content if the track contains language or themes deemed explicit.
Enter Copyright Information (Year and Owner).
Add Lyrics
Add Publishing Information (Step 3 of 3)
Accurate publishing information is essential for managing royalties. This step accounts for any writer who contributed to a release, separate from any performers.
To add publishing information for each song:
Click the + Add writer & Publisher button to enter writer details.
Enter the Writer Name (must be a person’s name, not an artist name).
Select the Publishing Type from the following options:
Copyright Control (self-published)
Public Domain (no publisher)
Published (managed by a publisher)
Choose the Role of the writer from the available list:
Adaptor
Arranger
Composer
Author, Writer, Author of Lyrics
Composer & Writer
Sub Arranger
Sub Author
Translator
Income Participant
Enter the Share Percentage that the writer is entitled to.
Click + Add another writer to include more writers.
Add the ISWC (International Standard Musical Work Code) if available by clicking + Add ISWC.
Click Save to confirm entries and return to the Publishing Information tab.
Note: The share percentage must add up to 100% for all writers included on each track.
Review and Save
This is the last step before saving your release to your Revelator profile.
Review the information entered for all tracks in the release.
If errors are found, return to the relevant tab and make necessary corrections.
Once verified, save your release.
After saving, you may:
Send the release to stores and services.
Create another release.
View your catalog.
Managing and Viewing Tracks
Customize your track list view by clicking the Customize your view button.
Switch between Compact and Comfortable row views.
Choose which columns to display, including:
Track ID, Artist Name, ISRC, Appears On, Missing Audio, ACR Cloud, Royalty Token.
Apply your changes to update the track list display.
Filtering Tracks
Click the Filter icon to open filtering options.
Available filters include:
Distribution Status (In progress, Not started)
Creation Date
Royalty Token Status (Minted, Queue for minting, Unable to mint)
Artists, Labels, Genres
Audio Files (Stereo only, Dolby Atmos)
Missing Audio (toggle on/off)
Metadata Language
Verification / Expected Outcomes
After creation, your track should be visible in the list with correct metadata and audio status.
You should see the following indicators:
Missing Audio: If no audio file is associated.
ACR Cloud: Status of audio matching.
Royalty Token: Minting status.

Missing Audio Error: Ensure your file meets the required specifications.
Invalid ISRC: Double-check the format and uniqueness of the entered code.
Unable to Mint: Review the Royalty Token status for issues.
